Proper maintenance of your floor sanding machines means a longer lifespan and better performance. Below, we’ve got tips we've collected from Pallmann to help you get the most out of your machines.
1. Keep them Clean
Like RJ says in the video above - these machines are our livelihood; we need to take care of them. A cared for machine will take care of you for years.
One of the easiest ways to keep your hardwood floor sanding machine clean is to blow out all the dust or vacuum out all the dust after each day. RJ shows you how on the Pallmann Spider.
2. Check the Plate
If the plate on your Spider is messed up, you're not going to get a flat floor. Regular inspections will help you catch any wear and tear before it becomes a problem. In the video above, Sean shows you how easy it is to inspect.
Key points to remember:
- Inspect the plate for any signs of damage or uneven wear.
- Ensure all fastenings are secure and there’s no wobbling during operation.
- If you have issues with your plate, reach out to Floor Mechanics, and we can connect you with your Pallmann rep to get started with the repair process. If it can't be repaired, we can order you a new one.
3. Be Prepared
Keeping spare parts on hand can save you time and avoid costly downtime. The Pallmann Spider and Gecko Star 2.0 are robust machines, but even they need occasional replacements to stay at peak performance.
Recommended spare parts for the Spider sander:
- Switch Mechanism
- Fuses (the Spider does come with one replacement fuse)
- Interface pads
- Norton interface pads
- Velcro
- Clutch plate
Recommended spare parts for the Gecko Star 2.0 edger:
- Velcro pad
- Dust skirt (Call to Order)
- Drive Belt
- Motor brushes
By keeping these parts on hand, you’ll be prepared for your most common maintenance needs.
