DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish

DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish is a single component finish that allows no waste. This product provides commercial durability. DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish  provides a clear, non-ambering finish. This product is under 125 VOC and provides exceptional flow and leveling. 

DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish is Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified.

Materials Check-list:

Color:

  • DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish is clear in color and does not amber.

Sealer:

  • When DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish is being applied to a newly sanded, bare wood floor, a sealer should be applied before using the DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish.  See  the "HOW TO" tab of this listing for more information.

Coverage:

  • Apply DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish at 500 sq. ft. per gallon. 

Dry Time and Cure:

  • Recoat time: 2-3 hours between coats. 
  • Light foot traffic is acceptable after 24 hours. 
  • Allow one week before exposing to rugs, cleaners, spills or heavy traffic. 

Between Coat Abrasion:

  • Abrading for additional coats is not required if the finish is applied within 24 hours of the previous coat. However, abrading the floor usually produces a smoother finished result. Abrade the floor lightly with a DuraSeal Pre-Treat pad. Vacuum thoroughly and tack floor with a slightly water-dampened cloth to remove all dust. 

Clean-up:

  • Cleans easily with warm water without the use of mineral spirits.
  • Do not use all-purpose cleaner or degreaser products.
  • Application tools should be cleaned with warm water immediately after use. 

Storage:

  • Always store at room temperature. If accidentally stored at a high temperature, cool to room temperature before use. Keep from freezing. If frozen, slowly warm to room temperature and mix thoroughly before using.

  • DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish is designed to be used indoors.

Surface Preparation:

New Natural Floors

Sand and prepare flooring according to NWFA recommended methods. Finish sanding with a 120 or 150 grit screen. Do no use steel wool. Vacuum thoroughly and tack floor with a slightly water-dampened cloth to remove all dust.  Apply 1 coat of DuraSeal DuraClear Sealer and 2 coats of DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish. 

Stained Floors

Sand and prepare flooring according to NWFA recommended methods. Finish abrading with a 100 grit pad or equivalent. Do not use steel wool. Apply DuraSeal Penetrating Stain or DuraSeal Quick Coat according to label directions. Apply 2 coats of DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish over thoroughly dried stain. 

Previously Finished Floors

Note: Do not apply over wax, lacquer, stains or shellac containing wax or stearates. Be certain floor is free from all wax or oily residue. Clean and abrade flooring using DuraSeal Pre-Treat System. Do not use Steel Wool. Vacuum thoroughly and tack floor with a slightly water-dampened cloth to remove all dust. Apply two coats of DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish. DuraSeal DuraClear Floor Finish will adhere to most stains and finishes after proper preparation.   Note: Always prepare a sample or test area to determine compatibility. 

Directions For Use:

Be certain all materials are at room temperature. Invert finish bottle 8-10 times to thoroughly mix the product prior to use. Use a synthetic T-bar applicator to provide the smoothest finish. Best results are are achieved when ambient temperatures are between 50-90 F, and humidity is below 80%. Note: If applying to white oak , two coats of DuraSeal DuraClear Sealer are recommended.

Application:

  1.  Pour a 5-6" wide line of finish along the starting wall, going with the grain of the wood.
  2. Using a clean dampened applicator, draw the finish towards the opposite wall going with the grain of the wood. Holding the applicator at a "snowplow" angle will maintain a wet edge at all times.
  3. As you approach the edge of the run, turn the applicator toward you and pad out excess material parallel to the wet edge.
  4. Feather out all turns.
  5. Apply DuraSeal DuraClear  Floor Finish at 500 Sq. ft. per gallon to achieve proper film build and to prevent lapping and applicator marks.
  6. Allow first coat to dry 2-3 hours. Note: Extended dry time is required with high humidity and low temperature conditions. 
  7. Abrade floor lightly with a DuraSeal Pre-Treat pad. Vacuum thoroughly and tack floor with a slightly water dampened cloth to remove all dust. Abrading for additional coats is not required  if the finish is applied within 24 hours of the previous coat.
